Literature Text

Fours years you've been there,
Showering, swimming, playing
Four years upon my wrist
And all are slowly fading.
Four years ago, there were four,
Only two originals remaining.

One left for Alabama
A girl needing Indiana
Attached to her always.
Out of love I sent another
Not even a year ago
And memories being smothered.

You've decreased in number
But you've grown with distress.
Bringing short comfort
When I was depressed.
A brief moment of joy
In all the darkness.

A new one soon joined the ranks
With the loss of those dear two.
In remembrance to them always
With pink and black and blue.
Never forgotten they shall be,
The students stay in our memory.
I started writing this when I went and saw my favorite English teacher in high school one last time. We were discussing the fact that they might open the Literary Magazine to the Alumni of WHS. I never was able to submit any of my work, but I've been hoping that this will go through. But during this discussion she gave me the idea to write a poem about something that has a lot of meaning to me. So I started a poem about the bracelets I have on my wrist.

I have about elven on currently, but I've made many many more that have slowly disappeared over time since freshmen year [four years currently, 2005]. This poem shows them through the ages and partically the reasoning behind each one.

PS This is not completely. Sadly, I still have eight more bracelets to cover, but I don't know how to really explain their history. So once I've finished this, I'll post the complete version. No harsh or critical critique. Just let me know if is sounds okay so far. Thanks.

This is really good - shows so much in such a simple manner.
It flows really beautifully too, floating into the air off your tongue.
:D
